How does Dr. Carano keep up to date on all of the current techniques
Dr. Carano subscribes to the latest industry journals to keep tabs on
research and development in the dental industry. He also takes time on
a regular basis for continuing education, and ensures that his staff does
the same. As a team and as individuals, we make it our responsibility
to be familiar with the latest techniques and materials available.
What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?
We are available 24 hours a day by calling the main office number 972-608-1811.
The answering machine will instruct you on how to leave us a message.
One of us will get back to you regarding your dental emergency promptly.
What makes you different than any other dental practice I can visit?
Our entire practice is oriented toward helping you attain your best oral
health. That's why we're always looking out for your best interests: determining
what's going on in your mouth, and why.
Our initial exam includes making extremely detailed observations, analyzing
and charting looking not just at the teeth themselves, but at your
bite, wear, jaw muscles, gum tissues, even checking areas prone to cancer
or other medical problems. If there are existing concerns, we'll help
you understand them, then take care of them with the latest expertise.
I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces,
what can you do to help?
Dr. Carano has a number of ways to improve the look of your front teeth
without the use of braces. For slightly crooked or unevenly worn teeth,
a bit of reshaping and the addition of porcelain
veneers or what we like to call "Instant Orthodontics" may
be sufficient to give your teeth a bright, uniform look. This can even
be accomplished in a single visit.
Wed be happy to talk with you further about the option that best
suits your individual situation.

My spouse snores and keeps me up all night. I've heard that a dentist
might be able to prescribe an appliance that prevents snoring. If this
is true, how do I find out if you can help?
Snoring is tough on any relationship! And, since it can be caused by
a number of factors, we encourage you to have your spouse come in for
a consultation and analysis with Dr. Carano to determine the cause.
In some cases, a person may actually stop breathing for short periods
during the night-a condition called sleep apnea. In other cases, snoring
can be caused by enlarged anatomical structures within the mouth and throat.
During sleep, the throat area relaxes, allowing these structures to collapse
against one another and obstruct clear airflow. In the latter situation,
we can prescribe and fit a special appliance called a 'snoreguard', which
gently holds the mouth and throat in an open position during relaxed sleep
and thus prevents snoring.
